Anyone out there have insulated garage doors? Just wondering what options work, the radiant heat barrier looks like the easiest to install.

I had our door replaced about 20+ years ago with a high end heavy gauge double sided o/head door, with molded in insulation. Works well though the bottom is beginning to show some rust. I have to call the company and see if they can replace that lower panel

Yea I have a Haas installed 2003. Besides the slight lower rust it needs a new bottom seal.

John, insulating your doors probably won't make much difference unless your garage itself is fully insulated as well and many aren't. Even where I am it's not standard unless there is living space above the garage. Just something to consider if you hadn't already.

Mine are insulated live in the South and my garage is insulated as I do have a room above the garage but I think that is pretty standard down here. House built in 1996 the original doors were not insulated replaced them about 6 years ago makes a big difference in the Summer the garage is not so much an inferno if you know what I mean warmer in the winter also.

My garage is insulated, a neighbor has an insulated garage door and when I went into his garage I thought it was heated. Way warmer than mine in the winter. I guess that was an upgrade I should have thought about when I bought the house.

Yeah, I gotta say, when I had our door replaced, it was definitely the right move. Add in a bit of serendipity luck as well. I had the door installed in 1997 or so. We'd just had a HUGE windstorm blow through and had torn off large sections of my roof. So, when my neighbor from across the street saw me getting the door installed he asked could he have the old door. So the installer left the entire mess on my front lawn so my neighbor could come back with pickup truck and shlep it out to their horse farm. Wouldn't ya know the insurance adjuster shows up in between. Sees the door layin in the lawn while he's inspecting the roof. Asked what happened. Quick on my feet, I told him wife was coming home in that terrible wind and when she opened the door the wind caught it and ripped it out of the tracks. He asked if I had the paper work and why didn't I have it included? I said it was "a door and didn't think they would". He said nonsense, added it to the roof claim and I got the door covered.
Anyway insurance covered or not. I am glad I went double panel insulated. And last spring I had the ceiling over the garage get insulated when they redid my attic insulation. So it's lots nicer in there now

I used this product to insulate my door about 5 years ago. Much quieter opening and closing. I insulated the whole garage at the same time. It keeps the garage about 10 degrees warmer in the winter and 10 degrees cooler in the summer. Garage door is no longer hot to the touch when the sun hits it. I makes the door look a lot nicer then the bare metal.
