Fuel ramblings

well, i just smoked 3 slabs with cowboy. didn't have any problems idling at 225. it was 70 degrees, with no breeze.

still waiting to hear more reports on the new K, and find it in stores. i see chris is using it today in another thread.

I have use whatever I can find. Mostly Kingsford although I can't get too high a heat in my Chargiller Pro when I use the side box. I use it because it is consistent and easily available. I never noticed the smell until I started reading the forums.

The first lump I used Cowboy and it was ok as well as BGE and Royal Oak. I wasn't overly impressed with them even though many people on the forums rave about them. I also didn't like the large amount of very small pieces and dust in them.

I recently tried a bag of Duraflame Hardwood Charcoal and won't use it again. It was the first time I had the ash clogg my fire. It created even more ash than Kingsford.

YMMV

Started with K, but moved to Wicked Good Weekend Warrior lump. It's available by the pallet in NE. I've always found it great--long burning, clean, etc. I've used Nature's Own, but it's expensive around here.

I do us Cowboy for high heat grilling, such as steaks, but otherwise I stay away from it.
