Fuel Consumption

I've been smoking for years on an offset, fuel hog, sticks and coals. How much more fuel efficient is a WSM compared to your average offset?

There are many factors that play into this.

Simple answer, MUCH more efficient. Not as efficient as a ceramic cooker.

One big variable is if you choose to use water in the pan or not (I no longer do). Also, cook temp & time. And when the WSM is new, it ususes slightly more fuel till some of the small air gaps get sealed.

By the way, love the icon. Had some Glissade last night.

Thanks JSMCdowell

I've never cooked on a ceramic or wsm. But if the WSM will save me $ in fuel. That would be very very awesome. Thanks

Oh and when my WSM arrives, I'll be sure to pick up a Pale Ale or Porter.

I currently have their Porter, Stout, Celebration, Tumbler, and Bigfoot in the chill box. All great Brews.
I planning on trying their new "Hoptimum" soon. (10.4%

Oh, can't wait! Too many of those Chico bottles get me too drowsy. I have to take my Chico consumption low and slow as well or I'd pass out. I've tried the Celebration, Stout, Torpedo, Pale Ale and the Porter. My next try will be the BigFoot then the Hoptimum.

Hoptimum packs a decent punch. Had it in bottle at a local pub and then draft at another one a few days later. I didn't know it was 10.4 till the other day, might explain some issues I had that first time.

As Mac said, once you get the WSM seasoned (first few cooks can run hot) it gets to a set it and forget it cooker for many hours.

Luis, if using a backyard horizontal smoker about 1/2 the charcoal usage . If using a bigger cooker even more. That's not the best part. Sleeping through the nite is

The first butt on my WSM was as good as my BEST on my horizontal!
Use my horizontal for short cooks ( ribs chicken etc.)
WSM for briskets & butts!
