Fruita Wood

So I've used my 18 WSM a handful of times, wife and I are loving it!!

I've been getting bags of Western brand apple wood for smoking from Menards at a reasonable price. I've been seeing a lot of buzz about Fruita woods, and the quality. Anyone use Fruita vs store bought brand...is it better, same, worse?

I don't mind spending a little more for the Fruita wood if the quality is there, especially if I'm smoking $50+ meat at a time.

I got Apple, Apricot and Peach from Fruita-Wood..outstanding.

I also get my mini-chunks from Maine Grilling Woods..they are a great size for the Kettle and the Smokey Mountain.

Can't compare to store-bought because all they have around here is Mesquite and Hickory and I am a fruit wood burner!!

I've gotten some woods from Fruita and was really impressed at how clean and good looking it was. You mention Menards, so I'll assume you're up north somewhere. A friend of mine who competes also reps Fruita wood that I could have hooked you up with, but we're both in Florida.

I'm about to give up on the hardware store purchased stuff. I'm noticing more and more that in a average bag I get about a half a dozen good pieces and the rest is bark and junk.

I just placed my second order..

The wood I have received is unbelievably clean and neatly packed with a stamp of the flavor on each piece...

Thumbs up for Fruita wood.

I used to use the hardware store wood and found that the wood was dry and I would get very little smoke. I switched to Fruita wood and have never turned back. I used to use 5 chunks and would not get enough smoke, 1 or 2 piece's of the Fruita wood is more than enough. Pull the trigger and get it.

Count me among those impressed by Fruita Wood. I bought peach, and its quality is head and shoulders above the woods I buy locally.
I will be buying more them them.

I have to ask you guys who use Fruita wood, do you store it as they recommend? I see they say to use a fridge or bury it in a bucket to keep it cold. Do you guys do that?

I just keep my mini logs stacked up on the patio. Chunks I just keep in some plastic barrels to keep the creepy crawlies out.....

a look...they have good quality wood as well. Try their Olive wood...great with chicken!!
