Frozen Butt - how long to thaw?

I have a frozen butt (probably 7-8 lbs) that I took out this morning and sat in the refrigerator. How long will this take to thaw completely? I was hoping to cook late Saturday night or early Sunday.

I know I can try to quick-thaw by soaking in water and changing the water regularly. I've also been told that you can throw them on the WSM even if they are not thawed completely.

I think I did the same thing when I cooked my butts. You should be OK. Mine had some ice crystals on the outside when I got ready to rub.

I think it would have been better to take them out a day earlier, but it was a huge deal.

I'd guess that it'll still be hard as a rock tomorrow morning. Let it thaw in some water tonight, maybe even over night. Back in the fridge tomorrow am, and see if it needs more bath time tomorrow night.

Derek, throw it on the smoker frozen. No biggie!!! When it cooks a little the meat should be soft enough to insert a temp probe if you need to. Great smoke ring

The colder you cook it the better as far as I'm concerned
