From Drab to Fab - Putting together a "How-To" Restoration Guide

Thanks @Josh Dekubber ! Did you have any tricks for rolling the endcaps like using a smaller roller for the ridges? How is the paint holding up on your grill? It looks fantastic!
Thanks!
The roller I used was pretty small but if you can find a smaller 1/4 nap roller it wouldn't hurt. It got in all the cracks and crevice just fine. It's holding up just fine and I use the grill regularly.

Krylon High Heat Max is my favorite high temp Paint but one thing to keep in mind. It requires more shaking prior to use. As long as you do that it should cover nicely.
How do you hold your endcaps while you roll them with paint? I was planning to completely mask the inside but not sure how to secure them for rolling.

I just get creative and prop them on whatever is available.
I forgot to tell you I use the exact same paint in spray can form for some of the tight spots like the inside of the lid hinge and where the handle attaches. I do that side first.

Hi @Josh Dekubberinbound1412715604461134954.jpginbound7052305292965176694.jpg I used your technique today and so far I really like the textured results. I taped some small Amazon boxes on the inside masking to help me hold the endcap. I cut out the boxes in certain areas for painting access. I am going to wait a day and then tomorrow put another roll coat on top and sides but not a spray coat on the other side. I think I'm ok on the inside of the handle and lid hinge inside details from the earlier spray. Thanks again Josh! Here are a few pics:inbound6930702203133550187.jpg
I took the endcaps off tonight. I'm glad I did. It went smoothly. It was much easier to get the final crude off the porcelain. I decided to renovate the emblem. I'll probably sand tomorrow. I'm also going to check my work neighbor who works on race car engines who has a sandblasting booth to see about doing the endcaps. I'll tell you how it goes later. Thanks for the help everyone. Here are a few photos. It's my first grill to take apart...hope it goes back together ok!

I'm trying to put these next two pics with the the above earlier ones because they show the finished emblem. I'm almost complete with this 2002 Silver B and soon I'll try and do an overall post in gas grills. Here is the finished emblem. I noticed the second registered trademark is a little low to sand so I think I'll just leave it. Thanks everyone. inbound1691457742683430164.jpginbound3916697497689719684.jpg
