Free Summit Platinum NG on my neighbors driveway. Looks really clean and no signs of rust.

San Mateo, CA just 30 min south of SF.

The rusting issues are not visible on the outside. It's internally they're nightmares. Odds are this one is as well otherwise why would it be out for free? But can't hurt to look

Absolutely true, Larry! However, even if the firebox is shot, there are some very usable parts on there (some that could swap to my 4-burner.) Fixed tables, swing tables, side burner, valves, knobs, etc. We'll see......bigger question is where am I going to hide it from my better half if I pick it up?!?!?

Fair points on the rust. Although it’s in really good shape and don’t think he used it much since moving here bc he couldn’t install a gas line.

I would still definitely whether you take it or not inspect the fire box. Because if it's rusted through it is really not a safe grill to use. I learned that from personal experience
