But it was at cash and carry, a lump, in what looked like a 30 lbs burlap sack and it was mesquite hardwood. Has anyone used this product, and if so, was it good (It might be a product from mexico..if someone says the name..I will know it)

Lazzari Lump, up here in WA all I have seen is the mesquite, in CA there is oak I understand.

I use when grilling beef mainly.

Dennis:

C&C carries 40 pound bags of Lazzari at $13. I've pretty much used it exclusively over the past 2 years and becomed accustomed to its quirks and behavior. Fires up reliably, no temperature spikes, minimal smoke. Bags usually come with some HUGE chunks which must be broken down and a fair amount of unusable dust.

If you prefer a more "scientific" analysis, here's a useful link: Naked Whiz Lazzari Charcoal Review

You could probably google up some Big Green Egg charcoal in your area, but I've found the prices to be at least 3x the Lazzari.

Exactly ONE TIME, I found some Kingsford Charwood at Fred Meyer. Hated it and will never use it again. Too many problems to list...
