There is nothing worse than finding a container of pulled pork with a bad freezer burn to it - dinner tasted bad that night - so my question is - i am looking for an affordable but dependable food saver for my wife this christmas which would great for me when doing bbq. any recommendations would be great. Freezer burn tatses nasty.

Foodsavers and the like do a great job and are super easy to use. you can get them (as well as off brand ones) at walmart. You just put the food in a bag and then stick the top in the machine - it will suck at the air out and then seal it. It is an amazing investment as stuff lasts so much longer vaccum packed.

Before buying an expensive Foodsaver, you might want to try the new Zip Lock vacuum systems in your grocery store for less than $10. I am happy with mine (and I have a Foodsaver also). The new ones are simple and easy to use.

I have a Foodsaver, and we love it. Food tastes as fresh as when it was made, no freezer burn at all. I'm only familiar with my own machine, so I can't comment on other brands, but I have zero complaints on mine. I've stored everything from salmon to chicken to cheese in it, all with very good results. Well worth the money.

As does Sams and BJ's. I love my Foodsaver, id be lost without it. I just picked up a box of rolls at BJ's last week. It had 3- 11" rolls and one 8" roll for $30
