First weekend smoke

I just returned from a long weekend where we fired up a new 18.5. Wow - controlling temps was really easy. Way easier than when smoking on a kettle. I'm still learning the correct cook times (did a 6 pound butt and 11 hours wasn't nearly long enough!) but getting the feel of using it wasn't as tricky as I thought it'd be. Made some smoked chicken and ribs that turned out perfectly.
Based on some great tips from the forum, using about lit 20 coals for the minion method was the way to go. I might even use less next time as temps were in the 250/260 range most of the time.
Thanks for helping me get off to a good start.

Congratulations on your first cook. Use a good thermometer to check temps to go along with guesstimating cook times......that will help you a bunch.
