First Time Pork Steaks

Pork steaks are not a common cut around here, or I wasn't really paying attention until I saw some posts here. That's why I love this site! Anyway, I found some at Meijer so I picked up a package. I seasoned them overnite with a generic bbq rub I got at Caputo's. Then I added some Penzey's Galena Street a couple hours before cooking.

Fired up the "new" red. I love the gas start.

Added a couple of small chunks of apple wood. Added the meat and away we go.

Since I've never done these before I was just guessing on time and temp based on what I've seen others on here do. These were thin so I targeted 25 a side at 325. The "new" red settled right in and held the temp like a champ. 50 minutes was plenty of time for these.

Sauced with about 10 minutes to go and added some pepper jack garlic bread. One was sauced with a sriracha bbq sauce. I'm addicted to sriracha lately. The other with just regular bbq sauce from Caputo's. My favorite Italian grocery store puts out some decent bbq products.

Plated with the pepper jack garlic bread and a small salad.

I tell you what, believe the hype. Pork steaks are the real deal. Easy to prepare and full of flavor. These will be on regular dinner rotation.

Thanks for looking. The weekend is almost here. Enjoy it!
