First time baby ribs-Minion or standard

I was all set to use the Minion method for my first rib smoke, but then I read the Best ribs in the univ. recipe and it calls for the standard method where you dump a started full of lit briquets, and throw on another unlit amount and let them all get to grey, then throw on your wood???

My preference is always Minion as it allows you ample time to dial in the vent control as the temp is slowly moving upward so you don't have to worry about your temp racing up to fast.

Always easier to ease into the temp than having to fight getting it down.

Brian - I've always used Minion for ribs, for the exact reason given by Chris. I'm sure you'll be fine either way.

Agree with the others, I have always used minion method for BRITU recipe. One change that I make, is I only fill ring 1/2 or 2/3 full of charcoal. Short cook requires less fuel. And, put ribs on grill as soon as cooker is assembled.

Minion method is fine but you might want to follow the recipe once before you make changes. I use the MM for BRITU, but in BRITU, it calls for turning up the heat toward the end of the cook. I think that makes a difference. BRITU is a process and a good one, but too much salt for me on the rub.

MM Always...Every thing i cook is done this way. Dial in the temp on the way up and you are cooking a long time @ the temp you wanna cook @.

Every smoke same thing,no matter what the protein is. (Chicken might start with more lit)

Minion Methon on ALL my smokes. Forgot already there was any other way. :-)

I put ALL my meats on as soon as the hot coals are dumped in the middle, and the pit is assembled. I get good results on all meats.
