First Smoke on my 22" WSM

So my hunt for a 22"ism ended about a month ago when I found a mint condition, less then 1 year old, 22" ism on letgo for......$100!! Well between 2 sons playing football, work, and bow season in full swing, i haven't had time to see how different the 22 acts from my previous 18.5. My oldest son asked if i could smoke a butt, and Harris Teeter had them on sale for $1.28 per pound, so it was all systems go for my maiden 22'wsm voyage. I trimmed it last night, and woke up this morning at 6:00. By 6:30, the butt was on and up to my target temp of 265*. 2 observations...1st, a single boston butt looks lonely compared to on the 18.5. 2nd, this thing is an absolute rock steady dream!! I run with a no water/foiled pan, so i had 2 vents closed and the 3rd closed 2/3 and the wsm just chugged right along all day!! I think i a had to tweak the lone open bottom vent 2 maybe 3 time all day. sorry for no pics, but i have all but given up on posting pics, but believe me, this was one on the easiest, trouble free smokes i have ever had!
I Love my new 22! I loved my 18.5 but this 22 ran like a dream today!!

I love my 3 x 22WSM too!

But let me understand: do you smoke WITHOUT the waterpan (and any other shield) ? Like a drum smoker ?

Enrico, I use the water pan, I just wrap it in foil to keep it as clean as possible. I stopped putting water in the pan a while ago as I really disliked having to add water mid-cook on long cooks. The only time I put water in the water pan is during a high heat brisket cook.
