I used Weber Kettles in the 70s, 80s and 90s, but in 1998 I bought a NG Platinum II that ran up untill tonite when I disconnected it and moved in another identical Platinum II that I refurbished after I picked it up for free. That old grill ran for 20 years and never quit. It would have cooked whatever I asked it to tonight, but it's time was up. Rusted cart, funky valves, everything that could rust did. I feel like the guy that drives his car to the crusher and stands back to see it go. I will post pictures of the new(old) grill soon ,I still have to finish up the side trays and cart basket.

Welcome to the forum David, I have the same Weber background as you do. I bought a new genesis 1000LX in 1999 and still have it today. I converted it to a 2000 a year ago and added a right side swing up table. As long as I can still flip a burger I will keep it, fortunately its spent its last 17 years in Arizona where rust is prohibited.
