I used Greased Lightning inside and out,with 0000 steel wool,(thanks to the guys here for their input), then a couple coats of wax on the outside.

their paint. Original paint job from Weber. I did nothing but clean it up.

Its a Maroon color that Weber replaced the Reds with for only very late 90s-2001. I remember when I worked for Home Depot back then, my Weber rep said this is what was slated to replace bright red due to cadmium red disposal concerns etc. It was gone by 2002 I believe as we no longer carried it by then until Red Brick emerged in '10.
