First Fattie

I'd never heard of a fatty or even considered cooking a JD package whole, before following this board. I'd only used JD for my son's breakfast favorite, biscuits and gravy. But I figured what the heck, as long as I was doing some baby backs at about 300 I may as well give it a try. I took a recommendation I found here and bought the maple flavor JD, and I rolled it in a homemade rub of onion powder, s&p, cayenne, etc. Nothing fancy. I basted it a could times with Maui sauce (a birthday gift I've been trying to get rid of - too sugary) I didn't have any great expectations.. But it ended up nice and firm and smokey and with a tasty crust. A run of the mill store bought sausage transformed! It was great with some eggs the next morning too. So thanks for turning me onto this. Now I suppose I have to try the stuffed jalepenos...
