First butt smoke (pics)

Thanks to everyone here on the forum! We had a VERY successful meal for Mother's Day today. PP was out of this world!

I made three sauces to accompany - Vaunted Vinegar, Carolina Red, and No. 5.

You'll notice my makeshift windbreak in one of the pics (which TOTALLY helped in the 30 mph winds)!

You all were so helpful with my questions, I'd like to share pics of the smoke.

CJ's first butt smoke!

Thanks again,
CJ

I have been for a year, but this was my first overnight and first butt... certainly the first of MANY!

And I have to say - the fire lit up at 9PM (butt went on at 9:45). When I pulled at 2PM the next day, I peeked at the coals, and there was PLENTY of WGC briquettes that were still not lit, and the fire was roaring. I'm convinced I could have gotten another 4-6 hours pretty easily on one tightly packed ring! Awesome stuff.

Nice bark on that butt. I would love to have been eating that for dinner!

Looks great, CJ! I really like those plastic utensils you used for pullers. Do you think those work better than your hands?

What kind of wood?

Um... whoops! I just realized I never answered the question, so:

1 apple, 1 cherry (buried in the unlit coals)
2 cherry, 1 apple on top of the lit

Sorry!

Contemplating doing another one this weekend...
