First Build Prob 0 registering a temp

Hello there,
Came across the Heater Meter build about a month ago. Thanks Capn Bry and everybody who's contributed! This is truly amazing....can't wait to smoke my first shoulder.

I just finished my build and booted it up for the first time. One problem, I didn't get a -no pit probe - message. Instead I get a temp displaying (it started around 400 F 0% but now it's down to 234F. Any ideas on the problem? When I log on the WebGUI Probe 1, 2 and 3 are all listed as off. Probe 0 (at the top) displays the same temp as the LCD.

Is this okay? I assume that I've soldered something incorrectly. Any thougts? unfortunately, I haven't ordered my probes yet.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Tommy O.

Do you have the tc components soldered to the board. If you do you need to change the pit probe to thermocouple and it should go to no pit probe

But 234° seems high. I usually see about 23° off memory. I would definitely check for solder bridges around the jacks and filter components that are right next to the probes.

Sounds like my initial TC woes. A heavy scrubbing of the TC area with 99% isopropyl alcohol was the fix for me.

Ahh thanks fellas. I don't have a TC but I did wire solder a phono plug there.
Noticed tonight that I didn't have the 10k and 100k resistors soldered in. Soldered a couple in and the no-pit probe error is there! Thanks!!!!!
Can't wait to get my probes in! I'm going to build another one of these bad boys for my brother.

@Steve_M: any idea where I can get a case 3d printed in the GTA?

Thanks again for the support boys.

You can do it at TPL, but they require you to take a 1 hour course.

Other than that, I had submitted the STL files to a couple of places, but the quotes I got back were pretty high. I just ended up getting my HeaterMeter cases via Tom Kole here on the forum and have been very happy with the results.
