Firebox coating?

Working on restoring my second redhead. First time around just ran a wire cup over the firebox, but this time I got it sandblasted. Already painted the outside, but how do I protect the inside?

Yep, Mark, you will have to be prepared for that beautiful, new-looking firebox to be covered with grease and smoke soon enough. Take enough pictures now and then enjoy your grill for what it is meant for!

You just have to season it. Start with three cooks of burgers. At least 10 each time. Then two cooks with skin on chicken. A full chicken or about ten pieces each time. Last but not least a slow cook meal like Ribs or a Brisket. After that, scrap off the grates and you are ready to cook some food.
