You can look for the casting date on the inside of the lid end caps. The other thing some people have done is to shine a black light on that faded sticker. It makes it legible again.
Just picked up this 1000 on marketplace. The label seems to be completely faded. Any other key ways to figure out what year this one is from?

Ant, those date stamps on the firebox and lids are not super accurate. That is simply the day that cook box was forged. It might not have been put on a grill until a year or so later. So, I think Danny still has a good chance to be spot on.
That was a model thing. The ones with the wire rack were considered to be a lower model (except for the Skyline) than grills with slat bottoms. You will also notice that those grills with a wire rack bottom don't have a slide lock mechanism for the flip down table.Im just not sure about the wire rack vs slats at the bottom. Was that by year or did they interchange them?
