Extention Ring Issues

The circumference will not change if the thing is out of round so that’s a moot point but, I’m really having a hard time trying to grasp what your “fit issues” are without some better pictures. The single shot you sent simply looks like a few gentle adjustments with a pair of vise grips should “pitch” the inner lip just enough to make you happy. This is one I think I have to step away from. I hope everything else you buy fits perfectly!
I hope you have Completely cleaned the inside of your kettle, a little gunk can cause a fit problem.
