Mike, sorry to pester, but do you know what wood was used for those marlboro promo grills? Please say teak, as I spent Sun. refurbing the three I got off a cl. score. They turned out great, and now thanks to you,I'm on the lookout for older Go Anywhere's for the wood handles.PS. Gave one to the neighbor who bought my OTG just to spread the karma as you have!

i still have them on my desk at work.. at certain angles it almost looks like a maple. Hard to say. I know someone i could ask and get the actual answer.

I'm sure a vinyl sticker place could make this work for u. They would do a reverse image apply that to the wood handle and then spray paint it black and peel off the sticker when it dries.

Or maybe even figure out a way to burn it in there (you'd need the stencil to be made of fire retardant material).

Painting would be easier, but in the spirit of grilling, burning it in there would be cool.

One might use something like this to get a nice "sear" on them.

I'd want it to look like the logo (font, picture of grill, etc.). It would need to be some sort of metal stencil. The burning/charring part would be simple.

Does anyone have the part number for the new style dark gray handles? The ones Timothy posted on the first page. Thanks!

was just outside looking at my sj with the light colored handle. i know i cleaned it a short while ago and already it looks like, well, you know what. how weber ever thought of those is still beyond me. and no, i'm not shelling out $$$$$$ to get black ones to correct webers goof. they need to supply them for free for those of us that hate the heck out of them. just cuz ya might be smart don't mean yer smart.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Weber and they tell me the only ones they are making now are the light grey ones like George is talking about. That's it! No other choices! That is according to her. No more dark greys or round ones. Maybe one of you guys could give it a shot. I am rebuilding a Master touch and thought those dark grey ones would look sweet.

By the way, you should get mark to grab this for you Mac.http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/for/2700977438.html It's an OT. It would be really nice as an OTG they never made.

light grey ? whats the differance ? weber pooched the pup again. they need to be black otherwise the grime shows up quickly and easily.
plus now you get to pay for more than one set.
gotta love them tricky ba, guys.
thanks but i'm gonna stick with wood.

George the difference is the light grey ones are what they have been using since around 2000. The dark grey ones came about in the last couple years. They are very dark and stay pretty clean. The problem I have the wood is they always look dirty. they are nice though.

It seems that Weber has used lots of different plastic handles. Some a little more fancier than others, usually on the higher priced models like the Performers and the OTG's.
My personal favorite is the black one that Weber used on the Copper OTS's that were sold last season exclusively at Target.
