Drill A Hole

IMO if you do that you'll have a rusting problem around the drilled hole area. Once that porcelain is removed you just have bare steel there. I wouldn't do it.

I forgot to mention get into the habit of flipping the mid section upside down when your done cooking. This will prevent water from filling up in the charcoal bowl. I wait till the fire goes out (I re-use my leftover lump) before flipping.

I thought about it but didn't because I usually let the ashes stay in the bowl for a couple of days just to make sure they are out. Sometimes that turns into the next time I cook before the ashes get dumped. I didn't want liquid ash running out on my deck if it happened to rain before I got around to dumping. Amazing how much water gets through that cover.

I bought some "Contractor Bags" from Lowe's that are 32" x 50" and 3 mil thick that fit the WSM perfectly even with the four handles I attached to the center section (garage door handles, vertically mounted). Keeps the water out but looks a little strange. The corners of the bag give the WSM "ears" so it looks like a large, black Pikachu! My dog barked at it when she first noticed the covered beast but she got used to it!
