Is the chain to keep the lid from opening too far? If so, I would have tried to make the hinge so that it would keep the lid from opening too far. Maybe a pin that could be positioned in a couple of spots to make it adjustable............just a thought. I like your hinge.......just didn't care for the chain.
Peter, looks awesome! I take it the bands around the lips are reinforcement? Did you reposition the grates inside? I see new hardware running along the door openings? Does it get top heavy when opening the lid?
Now thats a cool smoker. I like the hinge assemblies you have set up on it. If you flip the lid over does it cause any stability issues with the weight offset by the lid and its being that tall?
Lookin at this again, you chopped and lowered those mid-sections just by looking at the doors. I take it the lower band helps seat the upper section and the top band is a splice to seam the original flared end?
