From ThermoWorks:

"DOT is everywhere—from high-end restaurants to world championship BBQ competitions to hometown backyards. Maybe that’s because DOT is so simple. Set your target temperature with the up or down buttons, insert the probe in your food, and DOT beeps when it gets there. That’s it. Hit any button and the beeping stops. BlueDOT adds one key thing: Bluetooth connectivity to your phone so you can track temps inside, where it’s warm. Both are rugged enough to withstand years of use and come with our amazing Pro-Series® Probes rated to 700°F.

"Couldn’t you use more simplicity in your life? Give DOT a try."

I've never seen this before! I have the Thermopop which is a hair slower than the Golden Standard Thermopen and 1/3 the cost.
This would work for a one-meat setup or when you want to know when your grill is up to temp. Thanks !!!

DOT is very popular with some competition BBQ teams. One DOT per brisket or pork butt. You'll see a whole series of DOTs stuck (magnetic backing) on the outside of the pit.

I just ordered one. Never hurts to have a backup. Plus this looks like it would travel a little easier than my signals.

@GaryP How do you like your Thermoworks Signals? I bought a Tenergy Solis 6 temp with Bluetooth. It's great for the price (on sale for $40 a while ago). The Signal looks like an upgrade plus I want the wifi so I can monitor it from anywhere in my house.

I like it a lot. I am not able to use the wifi as I am out in the boonies with no home internet. But the bluetooth function is good enough to keep me updated from my couch which is about 50ft from the pit through one wall. I also bought the billows which is great for comps or on busy days. My only issue with it is it does get a little fussy with my android phone sometimes. It can remember probes from previous cooks when they arent even connected and it can take a couple app/signals restarts to get it to sync correctly. However once it does it doesnt miss a beat. I hear it's better on a iphone and I even had an issue early on and I had to borrow a buddies iphone to fix it with the help of customer support. But it's not finicky all the time, I'd say one out of 5 cooks. I just used it tonight to reverse sear a ribeye and it worked perfect. It seems well made like all other thermoworks products I have. I've gotten it pretty hot, a little wet and it's been fine. And the battery seems to have a pretty good life to last for a long cook if you are away from power(but not with the billows of course). Wow that was a bit long winded. Got into the manhattans a little early tonight. But even with the couple issues I have had I think it's a solid unit and one of the best out there. I trust it over my flame boss and like it better than the guru. I'd for sure buy it again.
