Door Prop Mod W/Pics


 
Wayne, I'm not sure what you mean by "the later model WSMs", but mine is the current 18.5. From what I've read, the 22s are a little different door shape, but it looks from pics that it should be ok. Just follow Lonnie's instructions and evaluate whether I'm right before you drill.

Anyone done this with a 22?

Did this mod today. A few minutes of work which will save untold aggravation during those high heat cooks. I wanna cook something now just to test it out. Thanks for the write up and pics, Lonnie Mac. You made it so easy, even I could do it.

Wayne, the arched top on the more recent model's opening pretty much precludes turning the door upside down.
That is, unless someone has found a way to overcome the geometry issue the opening presents. If so, I'd love to hear about it!
