Doing my first ABTs tonight and somewhat confused need a little guidance


 
We've only made these a couple of times but they turned out well. My husband's taste for heat greatly diminished after he had radiation for his cancer so I've got to watch it more than I did before, though I grew up eating spicy stuff in New Orleans and he didn't. He did grow into a lot more heat over the last 35 years, though. But radiation changed things for him. Besides making sure I take out the seeds and the pith in the jalapenos, I also parboil them in hot water for a few minutes and then drain and dry them well. This makes the heat a bit more palatable for a lot more folks so maybe some of you who cook for heat wimps (no offense intended!) might want to try this.

Or you can keep track of the parboiled ones so you can advise people they're milder, while keeping the heat you like in others.
