Do you clean your mouse?

Yup. Particles do get in them. Switched to an optical mouse about a year ago and don't expect any problems with it.

I've been using an optical mouse for years. Logitech makes one that will work on any surface, including clear glass. It's pretty amazing. I had to replace it after five or six years because one of the buttons stopped working. I tried fixing it but there was plastic in the mechanism and it had simply worn out. No way to fix it.

When I used a mouse with a ball, I'd regularly remove the ball and clean it and the rollers it made contact with.

Probably the same one I have. I doesn't even have a visible light beam.
