Rich, is there a story behind the red paint on the skillet?
Sorry I'm late getting back to you. The red paint indicates cast iron skillets or Dutch ovens that are used outside only. That way we don't get smoke residue on the inside ones. Which we have found that the smoke smell is pretty hard to get rid of and can give an off flavor to some dishes that you don't want the taste off smoke. Seeing that we store all the CI inside in makes it easier to know what pan gets used where.
