Diffuser Plate P/N

Does anyone know if Weber sells this diffuser plate as a separate part? Looks like the same one that came in my Summit Kamado S6 but has no holes. I would like to get my hands on one.

Took the snapshot from a YouTube video that mentioned "Master Touch Premium Charcoal Basket and Diffuser Plate"....was not sure that meant it only comes with the grill?

Their website has exploded views of their grills and or customer service can email them to you. All PNs are listed in the exploded views.

I am curious as to why you want to get your hands on one......if the holes are the only difference.
I took your advice previously on obtaining the extra lower grate.....that was money spent well as far as I can see.
I also vaguely remember Weber deciding to not sell the ring or the plate to people who didn't have the premium master touch kettle with the hinge on it.....basically keeping people with a performer or lower 22" models from having the smoking ability.....
Maybe you can get one now??

I was able to purchase them from Weber:

To be honest, so I can cut it in half...haha! But seriously, I am not crazy...it totally depends on how much it costs....I am actually just looking for the cheapest way to make a half-moon deflector plate to cover up 1/2 of the middle level grate (see picture) so I can make an indirect cooking setup. I purchased some "Big Joe" accessories as Lowes had them on clearance (half-moon cast iron griddle and half-moon cast iron cooking grate) so am also looking for the half-moon stainless steel cooking grate too.

So, basically trying to turn my Summit Kamado into a hybrid Kamado Joe on the cheap... I'm also just looking at a steel pizza pan or ceramic...really anything to block off half the grate.

I am actually also looking for a way (another 1/2 moon shape piece of metal) to block off 1/2 of the lower CHARCOAL grate as well so I just use charcoal on 1/2 the surface area and still force all the airflow to the charcoal and not around the outside (if that makes sense).

I hear what you are saying. I guess we all could go for a setup like that to be honest....for me if the E6 is in smoke mode its smoke only. The hot work I would have to do to get something over the fire would be crazy....In a situation like that I would just fire up the performer....more wasted fuel of course.
I have a broken pizza stone that might work.......also might be around 1000 degrees down there.

I think that is aluminum.

I've SS drip pans from here before:

good point. but will he be at or above 1220°F? SS or other steels will retain and heat up the interior. i guess it depends on actual application.. but i don't fully understand the desired outcome from the original description as listed above.

reference: Melting point is a crucial physical property. The temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid state directly impacts how that substance is handled and applied. Aluminum has a melting point of approximately 1220°F. Relative to other metals, this is about double the melting point of zinc, and half the melting temperature of stainless steel. Notably, the melting point of aluminum changes depending on the alloy composition. This is a vital piece of information when it comes to manufacturing aluminum.

I'm not a metallurgist, but I play one on TV :D

if it is a radiant barrier for burning coal, I would not use aluminum. YMMV

Charcoal burns at temperatures exceeding 1,100 degrees Celsius (2,010 degrees Fahrenheit).[10] By comparison the melting point of iron is approximately 1,200 to 1,550 °C (2,190 to 2,820 °F)

hmmm, i'm going to have to see if i can ger an IR reading above 1100F when i cook. idk if those stated temp readings are AT THE COAL or the ambient heat produced.

Have you considered a 18 or 20-inch harrow blade? Like $15-20 on craigslist - in Shingle Springs to boot.
