Since I've branched my business slightly to higher end coffee grinders, I have this following dilemma:
So I guess this question could pertain to any brand burr grinder. I was able to buy a second Ode Gen 2 off EBay (listed as for parts/repair) and when I received it I found it to be in nearly brand new condition EXCEPT it was clogged/jammed up due to PO having used it with flavored beans. Which I have to assume are loaded with different types of oils and such to flavor them and likely very hard on the machine. I've been able to pull the unit apart, fully cleaned out thoroughly brushed out the discharge chute, cleaned the burrs with soft brush and everything has been vacuumed and blown clean and spotless.
However: It stinks! Even if I try using it with my own beans everything comes out smelling like some weird fru fru flavored coffee. How can I fully deodorize this thing? Because it's even. stinking up my workshop in the basement If you so much as lift the lid on the bean hopper the aroma of the flavored beans hits you like a freight train in the face.
I'd like to either A, press it into use, B, resell it, or C, gift it to perhaps my nephew.
But the residue left behind affects the flavor and aroma of good beans, and I believe there may still be deposits affecting it's performance slightly (it seems to collect residue more readily than my other one which I think is a by product of the smelly oils left behind)
