Deep Fried Turkey

Throughout the years I have tried many methods for cooking Turkey. On the kettle, in the smoker, rotisserie, but the one that tastes the best to me is deep fried in peanut oil. This years bird will be fried in an electric fryer, outside on the patio. It is requested by the family, so there we are. Hey its not like I am deep frying a ribeye.......but thats an interesting idea too.

My family loves deep fried turkey. It has been requested that I fry one along with smoking an apple brined bird on the WSM as well. You can never have enough turkey in my opinion.

I've fried a T bird every year since '97. Like you say the family loves it. SWMBO hasn't had a turkey in the oven since. That space is much too valuable (for pie!).

I also smoke one as well. Usually a 20+ lber. This year's is 22.

I was thinking about smoking then frying one as a twist. My fryer turkey is a 12 lber.

Does anybody have any good links for brined deep fried turkey? I'm trying to help someone out after I convinced him to try brining it...

I'll tell ya...deep frying turkeys is why I got into smoking them...I got a bit happy on vino and had 10 ft flames on the deck one year and decided never again...I do enjoy a good Cajun fried turkey..some of the best bird I have ever tasted! I'll stick to smoking them...maybe someday I'll try it again!
