Some of you may know the Scottish fish&chip shop dessert deep fried mars bar, which is a mars chocolate bars dipped I'm batter and deep fried.
I used the rest of a beer-based batter that I had used for fish (but changed the oil). Batter recipe:
400g plain flour, which have been frozen in the freezer
3tsp baking powder
50 cl very cold beer (as close to freezing as you dare)
1/2tsp salt
Heat oil to 185 degree c or 365 F
Mix together batter just before you are ready to fry, should be like a thick sauce
Dip chocolate in batter and deep fry
Ready to dive in, mars bar and friend Bamsemums (bearchu) (a Norwegian bear shaped chocolate-covered marshmallow candy)
Mars bar after about 1 min, bamsemums about 20 sec, banana 2 min (at the left)
The bamsemums was truly fantastic.
