Decent Q in NYC

So, the other night I was in NYC with a couple of friends, on my perpetual (and perpetually-futile) task of finding a Q joint with better-tasting ribs than I regularly make on my WSM. We wind up at Brother Jimmy's on 8th Ave, and my expectations were clearly lived down to. Five of the greasiest, sloppiest piggie-bits to ever have fallen off a bone.

Seriously, whoever decided that fall-off-the-bone ribs are a Good Thing needs to have some one-on-one time with a clue-by-four.

So I turn to you, my fellow followers of the (smoky) flame; is it possible to get properly-prepared ribs or brisket anywhere around the NYC tri-state region? Ribs I can leave bite marks in and actually have, you know, flavour? I know it's asking a lot!

check out pig trip, for plenty of well informed reviews of nyc bbq joints.

I've been to Daisy Mae's with mix success, and have heard good stuff about Fette Sau.

Fatty Cue also looks cool but its very new.

One word of note, I find it hard to find ribs anywhere that beat mine, other than Oklahoma Joe's in KC. I just dial down my expectations when I eat bbq out. Its just too hard to serve something at its peak, when it take 4+ hours to cook.
