"Craziest" critter you ever smoked?

I cajun restaurant up here did some 6ft gators on a pig roaster for mardi gras. I guess they marinated them in milk and basted it with a local chicken marinade call chavetta's. They served it pulled, it was nice and tender, and tasted sort of like pork with a bit of fish.

I talked to the guy who's pig roaster they were using and he was telling me how little info they found on the web about cooking gators. They weren't going to even try until he saw something on a pbs nature show where some native africans were cooking a croc on a spit. He figured, if they could make it work so could he.

Maybe not exactly a critter, but South Dakota
pheasant can be pretty good. Be careful not to
get it too dry.

Some months ago, someone posted about a friend smoking skunk. No kidding. With friends like that who needs enemies?

That reminds me of an old story only marginally related to this thread.
As a young man, my great grandfather. born in the 1860's was seeing an indian girl over in Oklahoma. He was invited to dinner and arrived to find her mother cooking a one dish meal in a large pot over an open fire. The stew was very good and he asked what the meat in the stew was. His future mother-in-law took him over to the pot and showed him the remains of the skunk they were eating. He didn't eat any more, but thanked her for dinner.
