I'm out of frozen smoked and shredded pulled pork so most of this will go to that.I saw those the other day. Tempted! I'd need to separate them, then repack and reseal. Not sure when I'll be doing one. Maybe I'll do one next weekend.
Yeah good luck on briskets. Note my little "rant" about how expen$ive they are lately. Well.......................everything really. Pork shoulder is "cheap".........relatively compared to beef but still nearly twice what I am used to paying.I saw those the other day as well.
It’s funny that they had the same sale way up here.
I was tempted but passed on them.
It’s a good deal and all that, I just prefer a bone in single pack packs so it’s been a bit since I got one of their double packs of bone out.
It’s gets messy separating and vacuum sealing them because they are a real tight squeeze into the new bag.
Our local QFC (owned by Kroger I think) regularly has bone in single packs on sale for $.99 per pound so I grabbed one of those instead.
They sell out quickly on the display shelf but the butchers normally keep a few in the back.
Now, if I could just find me some of those cheap priced prime briskets I’d be set.
It was just a gripe about prices in general. I am so tired of hearing "inflation is way down and under control" yet those people blowing smoke up my posterior are not coming here to pay my every skyrocketing prescription bills, med bills, and grocery prices. (not just brisket).Larry I hear you about the brisket prices.
I sort of have a love/hate relationship with brisket prices.
I did a nice big choice one about a week ago that turned out good.
It looked like a big contorted inverted V with aluminum wings because it was too big for my 18”.
It was less than $70 on sale and so far has produced 18 plates of food.
11 plates on the first night.
5 plates on the second.
2 plates taken away in a doggy bag and tonight the wife and I should finish it off with some dumplings and gravy.
We do eat a lot of sides so that’s not like it was 18 large plates of meat but none the less it was 18 plates of meat.
I dunno, being still cheaper than McDonalds makes it hard to hate .
Larry, I was just at Walmart picking up some groceries and just when I was starting to feel like prices were at least stabilizing a bit, I start seeing yet higher prices on just about everything I looked at.It was just a gripe about prices in general. But yeah, I do get as much value as I can from everything. But back on subject material pork shoulders.
I will be grabbing a pkg of those pork shoulders this week. The convenience being the best part for me
The sale I posted was a 2 day deal. It may or may not still be availThis is good timing! Heading to Costco on Fri and am planning on doing a butt this weekend, so will definitely grab a pack and not have to thaw one out.
Yeah, I just bought a pack. No more deal I should have grabbed a pack when I saw them, but I don't have freezer space for 2 of those, and unless I am making one for a crowd I can't use it. So IIRC the pkg was like $40. Ouch! The sale I posted was a 2 day deal. It may or may not still be avail
