Costco boneless pork shoulder $8 off two pack

I saw those the other day. Tempted! I'd need to separate them, then repack and reseal. Not sure when I'll be doing one. Maybe I'll do one next weekend.

I'm out of frozen smoked and shredded pulled pork so most of this will go to that.

I'll slice some for country style ribs and vac seal them uncooked for a future dinner and cut some small bite sized pieces for burnt ends.

Yep gonna head there this week and grab a pack. One will be used for the large family picnic this coming weekend, the other will be freezer fodder (not cooked). Can't beat the price and considering I am gonna throw it on the smoker Sat night for an overnight, then wrap it Sunday AM and toss it in the cooler (or as Sgt Schultz says) "in ze coolah" I'll shred it when I get to the picnic at my sister's

Damn, now that's what I call inflation! My local grocer has 2 pack bone-in for $1.66/lb. & I passed as I recently took inventory & I have a twin pack & 2 singles, all bone-in. I have never come across boneless, they would be be great for sausage making, but otherwise I would pass, bone means flavor, not to mention the hassle of tying them up if I were to smoke them.

I prefer bone in as well, BUT, for my purpose next Sunday, boneless would be more convenient. I can tie it up on Sat night, before I throw it on Big Z (hoping I will have a new controller by then so I don't have to go outside in the middle of the night (wee hours).

It’s funny that they had the same sale way up here.
I was tempted but passed on them.

It’s a good deal and all that, I just prefer a bone in single pack packs so it’s been a bit since I got one of their double packs of bone out.
It’s gets messy separating and vacuum sealing them because they are a real tight squeeze into the new bag.

Our local QFC (owned by Kroger I think) regularly has bone in single packs on sale for $.99 per pound so I grabbed one of those instead.
They sell out quickly on the display shelf but the butchers normally keep a few in the back.

Now, if I could just find me some of those cheap priced prime briskets I’d be set.

Yeah good luck on briskets. Note my little "rant" about how expen$ive they are lately. Well.......................everything really. Pork shoulder is "cheap".........relatively compared to beef but still nearly twice what I am used to paying.
I too like the bone in and usually get them at Sam's since the only way Costco sells them is boneless double packs. But for this application and the $8 off a pkg I will put up with tying them when I plan to cook. Since I am bringing it to a large family event, it will save me time and trouble

Larry I hear you about the brisket prices.
I sort of have a love/hate relationship with brisket prices.
I did a nice big choice one about a week ago that turned out good.
It looked like a big contorted inverted V with aluminum wings because it was too big for my 18”.
It was less than $70 on sale and so far has produced 18 plates of food.
11 plates on the first night.
5 plates on the second.
2 plates taken away in a doggy bag and tonight the wife and I should finish it off with some dumplings and gravy.
We do eat a lot of sides so that’s not like it was 18 large plates of meat but none the less it was 18 plates of meat.
I dunno, being still cheaper than McDonalds makes it hard to hate 🤷‍♂️.

It was just a gripe about prices in general. I am so tired of hearing "inflation is way down and under control" yet those people blowing smoke up my posterior are not coming here to pay my every skyrocketing prescription bills, med bills, and grocery prices. (not just brisket).
But yeah, I do get as much value as I can from everything. But back on subject material pork shoulders.
I will be grabbing a pkg of those pork shoulders this week. The convenience being the best part for me

This is good timing! Heading to Costco on Fri and am planning on doing a butt this weekend, so will definitely grab a pack and not have to thaw one out.

Larry, I was just at Walmart picking up some groceries and just when I was starting to feel like prices were at least stabilizing a bit, I start seeing yet higher prices on just about everything I looked at.

I do wish I could grab a couple of those Costco Pork Butts though.

Going there tomorrow, out of half and half, fuel, and a few other things, I did not overstock before we were going to be gone for a while.

The sale I posted was a 2 day deal. It may or may not still be avail
Yeah, I just bought a pack. No more deal :( :( I should have grabbed a pack when I saw them, but I don't have freezer space for 2 of those, and unless I am making one for a crowd I can't use it. So IIRC the pkg was like $40. Ouch!
