Cooking Times

This is one of those newbe questions...

Is it the more meat that you're smoking the longer the smoke. Once the smoker gets to the desired temp, should the time be the same if you are smoking one butt compared to two. Or one butt compared to two butts and a brisket?

Basically once you get the temp up, it is the same amount of time. It can take longer to get the temp up with more cold meat on the grill.

Warren you base your cook times on the individual size of the cuts of meat not total weight. As James says it will take longer to get to temp and take more fuel to keep it there as you increase the amount of meat on the cooker.

Two 4lb butts will not take as long to cook as one 8lb butt.

Cook times should be used a just a general rule when bbq ing. Too many factors like the cut of meat, outside temperatures, wind, charcoal brand etc....
I recommend a nice digital meat thermometer. Go by temp inside of meat and also tenderness and you will be a pro!
