Cooking in a woodstove?

Been running my buck fireplace insert a lot the last month or so, ever since global warming seemed to go on vacation.

I been wondering about ways to cook stuff in it.

I suspect that slow smoking isn't going to be much of a thing. I mean, yeah, you could throttle it back enough, technically, but I do have a house to heat.

I have watched a few videos on people doing pizzas and steaks. I suspect these are the best applications where you want high heat.

Would like to hear of you folks experiences with cooking in a stove meant for heating.

Anything that you can do in a Dutch oven, I would expect. It’s one of the ways they have been used for well over a century. It will probably entail a bit of a learning curve but, there are a pretty large number of folks here that use them a LOT so, I’m pretty sure there will be folks joining this conversation.
