Cooking Four Pork Shoulders on an 18.5

Hey all,

I had a very successful cook about a week ago with two shoulders (photos forthcoming), and I'm looking to cook again this weekend for a larger crowd.

The idea is to cook four pork shoulders, each about 7lb. Two quick questions:

1. From looking at other cook logs, seems like I can count on about an 18 hour cook at 250. Does that seem right?
2. Should I put all four shoulders on the same rack or split them between racks? If I split them between top and bottom, which rack will cook faster?

Thanks in advance,
Vic

I have done 4 butts on the 18.5 with temps 250-265 it took me about 13 hours.

I would split them and do 2 on top and 2 on bottom.

All butts cook differently. I would temp the smallest butt and monitor that one first.

FYI. From what I've read on these great forums the lower rack cooks faster do to it being closer to the heat source.
