Does anyone have good pics of the flat box w/ semi-gloss end caps?

I have picked up a few of my Genesis x000 grills in barely used like new condition. I haven't seen a matte finish Cookbox. The ones I've picked up have had the same texture on the Cookbox as the lid end caps and same satin sheen on both the Cookbox and lid end caps.

Here is a Skyline that the late Rich Dahl did. I sure miss him...

I'm guessing the sheen and texture varied a bit from one batch run to another at the Weber factory. This is the best example I found out of the grills I've picked up for factory finish. This is my green 1000 LX I picked up from a very old couple that bought it new just down the street from where I picked it up. Only used probably a couple times. Covered and stored in their barn since new.

@Josh Dekubber - that greenie looks remarkable. I’m thinking the heat of the cook box kills the sheen faster and that’s why peeling occurs on the deep boxes, and maybe why Weber started to put that lower valence to shield the cookboxes?

Cody, that is the same as I have done all my rehab/flip grills. It might be all the SS works better with the flatter cook box paint.

I've never seen a Genesis 1-5000 grill that has two different sheens on the cook box and end caps, they have always matched. As to what causes them to peel and flake, I would have to say age and frequency of use would be the two main reasons at this point

I tend to think it was also sun related.

I thought you did the flat box and semi caps. I think the flat goes better with the gray porcelain along with the SS frame

I do flat box and semi-gloss on virtually all my rehabs. To include all the grills I posted above.

I am looking forward to trying out the Krylon Satin this spring however.
