Converting Summit S-670 from Nat Gas to LP

Have a Summit S-670 (7470001) that I converted to LP by doing a manifold swap. All is well with the operation of the grill now, it works perfectly. To make the conversion complete, I bought the tank scale pt. no. 70199 but when I bolted it up to the preexisting holes, the tank sits on the floor of the cabinet and doesn't hang from the scale. That's when I realized that the LP grills have a hole cut in the cabinet floor so that the tank can drop lower when hanging on the scale. Can someone that has Summit 670 give me the diameter of the hole and the distance from the front edge of the cabinet and the distance to the side of the cabinet? Those dimensions would be much appreciated. Bonus question: is it just a clean hole cut in the cabinet floor without any reinforcement around the underside of the hole? Thanks!

BTW I've only used this grill a few times but it is a very impressive piece of equipment. I've invested about $800 in this grill including the original price to bring it back to like new condition. That's less than the cost of a new mid size Genesis but IMHO it's a much bigger and better grill.

If the floor of the cabinet is free of rust, I wouldn’t do anything to it. Any holes you cut will only introduce corrosion. I would only put down a rubber mat that the tank can set on, to avoid scratching the bottom panel.

if the scale works as it should, it will pick the tank up when it has less weight in it.

I would outboard the tank before using a rubber mat. If (and when) moisture does get in the cabinet and gets trapped under that mat, it will not take long for rust to begin. Outboarding also creates a huge amount of extra space for storage inside the cabinet.

Just curious, is this confirmed to work on any Natural Gas bottom panels relative to the location of the tank holder?

Or have you tested on any specific models?

I’m not sure why didn't say/think this, as @Bruce told me to outboard my tank on my S330. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I still stand by my statement of not cutting the bottom. Outboard the tank and you’re good to go!

I moved my tank to the outside on my summit 420, I would use that approach here to avoid corrosion and headaches for sure

I have a Summit 470 NG I am robbing parts from for a 670 LP rebuild. I will compare the two and get you the dimension later today.

Thanks for the photos and dimensions. Appreciate the other responses suggesting alternate solutions, but I opted to make it look just like Mother Weber wanted it to be. Good heavy coat of primer and Rustoleum MF Gray should hold any rust off for a good long while. Grill is in a dry area anyway. Does anyone have a pair of 88065 glide buttons they want to part with?
