Converting ex-335 grill to propane

Especially with the way a griddle works. If you’ve got a flame thrower under there, that’s got bad written all over it.
Or if the flame does not stay properly propagated you now have a buildup of gas trapped under a very heavy and very hot piece of steel! OP do yourself a favor. If you want a NG one either A, find OEM actual Weber replacement parts, or B, buy the NG version and sell your LP version.

there is no weber kit. Im just not sure the next house will have an NG hookup and we keep talking about moving. If i have to go to LP at next house II want the stock bottle hanger. i heard converting to NG is easier than to LP. So that was the strategy. Figured if anyone knew it would be this group. But now Im not sure i can source an LP version anyway. out of stock everywhere.

Just to be clear, none of us are being jerks. We just want to make sure you’re not exposing yourself or others to a potential catastrophe.

Converting any Weber product isn’t physically difficult. It’s just expensive, if you can source the correct parts.

Then your safest option is to simply bite the bullet and stay on LP. Sorry as Cody mentioned: No one is trying to be a jerk for sure. Just you're playing with dangerous stuff. And quite honestly IMO Weber's own policy of not building their products with a mind to be able to EASILY and SAFELY change fuel type. Hell you can go buy the cheapest gas range for your kitchen and they come with everything you need to change fuel type and the clear concise instructions to do it! They have valves built for both fuel types, built in regulators that are "switchable" between fuel type. There is no good reason Weber can't do this. Many other companies use a simple process as well. By actually including a proper main metering jet and the tool to switch it! I think someone chimed in on one of these threads about how "oh they're taking the high road for legal reasons" and what not. Yet your home furnace, water heater, gas stove what have you all can easily be switched with full instructions and supplied parts right from the mfgr when you buy it. IMO rather than keep things "safer" this practice is helping promote unsafe practices and items much like what you've been tempted to do.
And bottom line I could be totally wrong about your griddle. Because there are SOME not ALL Weber gas products that have valves that can safely accommodate either gas quite easily. But it's a crapshoot as to what your appliance is built with.
You might buy this so called "kit" and have it work perfectly fine and then of course you'll go away thinking we're all dumb or were being jerks. And quite honestly IF you take that chance, and everything works perfectly I hope for your sake that is what happens. But I don't have any way of predicting this.
But if you want to keep your new appliance doing what it should do and safely just stick to LP and bite the LP tank bullet.

I just checked FB MP using "Grill" as my search term. This is what showed up. The gas conversion kit is actually an Ebay add (which it seems FB has started hosting). The kit claims to cover every Genesis grill built in the last 30 years. I imagine they have sold a whole lot of them. Notice he "Does not accept returns". LOL.

Here is a link to the kit: https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...2d4c3e-63aa-4db6-838d-be7e5cbf681d&__tn__=!:D
