It seems that even the most seasoned BBQ competitor can only win big a fraction of the time. I understand that much of the payback is in bragging rights. If you have a restaurant or catering service, that trophy is the best form of advertising. Each contest must cost a minimum of a $1000 to enter, considering all the time, supplies, etc.
I was wondering if anyone competing on the Q circuit ever makes any money doing so.
An aside: although smack talk seems to be part of the BBQ comp culture, you always kept a cool head on the Pitmasters program and never engaged in that stuff. Thanks for bringing a sense of dignity and compassion to the program. Wishing you continued success,
