Just curious, if anyone cleans the stem part of the lid thermometer, on the inside of the lid ?

If so with what, and how do you clean it ?

Maybe it's not necessary ?

thanks

John,as far as I know, the only recommended cleaning for inside,is to wipe it down with a crumpled piece of foil to knock off any loose "goodies". In reading other threads, some people never clean their smokers. Others are fastidious about cleaning. If it bothers you, some greased lightning on a rag should do the trick. I've never cleaned the inside, other than the grates. HTH

I've cleaned the inside of my lid, but never paid any attention to my thermo and it still works like a charm

Hi John....I use a candy therm stuck in the top vent and yes I have cleaned it 4-6 times. One of those little scotch brite/sponge pads works great, but get your own, or a used one that won't be re-used in the kitchen. It won't hurt anything, it just makes brown suds.

I've cleaned mine a couple times, but I don't do so anymore. Just not worth it. Certainly not necessary.

I guess hat I was thinking would that little amount of build up on the thermo stem, affect the accuracy.

I hearing not to worry.

Thanks
