Cheesesteaks

melt the cheese into the beef and boom, it's now sauced. i wouldn't waste time making a cheese sauce, but that's me.

flavorwise, i prefer the mix of white American cheese and provolone. heck, a few sliced jalapenos would be good too.

some people prefer to butter then toast the bun. i didn't see a need for more calories. but yes, you must warm/steam the bun atop the meat. a warmed bun is needed.

Yep. The way the philly dude on YT did it (one of his secrets) is to lay the cheese slice on top of the beef while it's cooking and about done, then slide the spatula underneath, and then flip the whole thing so the cheese slice is face down in the pan (low heat) and the beef is on top of the cheese. Let it sit for a few secs. That will cause the beef to sink into the near-liquified cheese. Scoop it up, lay it on the bun.

So maybe melt the cheese into the beef n onions.....mix it up and melt more cheese on the top before adding the bun?
I seen a few people make this and watched it in videos.....everyone seems to have their own take with similar outcomes.
I live nowhere near Philly so I don't have a fight to be picky, but knowing me I like to make really good food but I also like to keep it fairly simple at the same time.
We are expecting a foot of snow through the weekend....maybe I will dust everything off if the weather is right on Sunday and make this.
Have to check with the warden.

This sandwich is right in your wheelhouse, Darryl. It's so freaking good. Brett nailed it.

I don’t make a cheese sauce either although last year I went way out of comfort zone and heated up some cheese whiz and damn it wasn’t half bad.

I normally fall behind on my cooking tasks to place the cheese at the right time so I usually end up using either my steam dome or my torch to get the cheese done to my liking.

I’m now thinking a cheese steak would make a great meal this weekend.
