Checking wireless signal

I use a bridge to connect my Stoker to my home network and then run StokerLog on a laptop that is connected to my network via wireless. But the wireless connection for the Stoker wasn't very stable when using the bridge.

I found this great little free program that I used to check the wireless signal strength out by the smoker. http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/

I was then able to make adjustments inside by the wireless router to improve the signal strength out to where the smoker is. I thought I was going to have to get a repeater or additional antenna. Luckily I was able to increase my wireless signal strength just by taking some heavy duty foil and make an arch with it and setting that behind the wireless router. I greatly increased the signal strength and now the bridge has no problems connecting to my home network -- I'm now able to turn off the Stoker when I'm out checking on the meat. Then when I turn the Stoker back on, it's connected to StokerLog before I'm back in the house.
