Charmglow Party Host HEJ 1T

There were a lot of these type of grills back in the day. Most were very similar looking and shared pretty much the same design traits. The familiar bow tie or H burner along with a tray for lava rocks or ceramic briquettes. Weber started with these designs when they came up with their own take on a gas grill in 1985. Very well made in the USA like most things then, these early gas grills offer an interesting look at gas grilling before Weber hit the scene. It is interesting that some of these early brands, like broilmaster for example, continue to make grills today.
It's very interesting seeing the progression of gas grills, I love the old ones and seeing the cool ideas they had. It's fun for sure

I have seen a Charmglow Chef’s Choice for sale a couple of times. It is, for sure, another special grill from days gone by. I love the scroll work reminiscent of patio furniture from that era. I can’t recall if one half was charcoal and the other gas.

I have never seen one for sale around here. However, if I have the opportunity I would seriously contemplate a brief stray from Weber and see if I could get one if the condition was good. It does remind me of my family's wrought iron patio furniture I grew up with on our porch. I would tell my wife I got a third grill for the deck because "it had beautiful garden leaves that I thought she would just love"...yes...that right, perfect...that will work!...😂

Never pass up a PK with Tyler Tx in the logo. That’s where it all began and scarce to find.
I may have found one in Arizona. It's seen better days but could be brought back to its former glory. I was talking grills with a guy on another forum and he mentioned that he had his grandfathers beloved grill so not sure his plans for it or if he would want to part with it. It's not from TX it's from Arkansas but I'd jump on it anyway.

If it’s possible you’ll do a great job!

Do you have a photo?

Depending on how much 💰 not too rough for a nice restoration. Jons is a Jr model which is more desirable, at least to the PK group, and the pic Josh has isn’t a Jr model. As far as the frame goes EMT 1/2” conduit can be bent and make a frame, I’ve done it and it’ll polish up pretty good at that, although not sure what they’ve done there with the frame may be salvageable. I still have some new vintage style wheels that are real close to the original. The big hubcaps on that old single vent model will pop off and paint out nicely.

I'm always on the lookout for a nicer starting point even if I have to pay a bit more but I'm not scared of a project. It's always nice to see a big transformation. If it's a challenging process it makes me appreciate the end result that much more. I always do my research first to make sure I can find or make anything I may need for a quality complete project.

I do like to make my restorations close to original in appearance except I like to get creative with the best wood I can find that will last the longest and use custom 304 SS inside the grill that will also last. If I was restoring to sell I'd consider 100% original or if I wasn't ever going to use it. It's all stuff that can be easily removed if needed without damage.
