At the moment my place where I buy Kingsford Charcoal here in Costa Rica has NO supply. They have another brand, "Parade" which I am not familiar with,so, any of you smokers out there ever used this brand of charcoal?

Richard

Richard , my local supermarket Super S Foods sells Parade charcoal, the charcoal has half the burn time and half the heat of kingsford and thats on a good batch, i have used it one time never again, i do not recommend using it.

I know it has been stated on this Forum that Kingsford Matchlight Charcoal is a BIG NO, however, I can buy this as it is readily available in COSTA RICA. Any thoughts?

Richard

Richard kingsford matchlight charcoal is ok to use just make sure it is all ashed over. I would not use it for smoking just grilling. People that say they can taste the charcoal fluid is a myth. What i do see is people putting way to much fluid in the charcoal to start it and do not let it all burn off before they start cooking.

Better yet why use lighter fluid at all by those weber chimmney starters put some newspaper in the ottom , fill the chimmney with coals light em and within 20 mins you have nice hot burning coals!!!!!!!

Thank you for your response; for your information the "Kingsford Matchlight" charcoal already has the lighter fluid mixed within the charcoal. All you do is dump it out of the bag and light it.
