Charcoal "briquettes", Sam choise vs kingsford ?

Can anyone shed some light on the pros & cons of using Sam choice vs Kingsford Charcoal "briquettes" Burn time, flavor, ash build up etc. Since no rancher available to me this season, I'm going to stock up pretty soon. Any thoughts appreciated. thanks john
 
Ive been using Sam's, I seam to like the larger Briquettes also, I don't know why excatly, but I've had good luck with em. A little cheaper than the Kingford to I guess. John
 
i've done long cooks with no problems. the stuff is made by royal oak. i use it regularly.
ash is better than kingsford and smells better also.

I'm ready to get off the porch and run with the big dogs and do a long cook. Maybe an overnight briskette, I don't know if you more experienced cookers out there remember your first overnight cook, but the thought of it is pretty exciting to me.

All I have to say is thanks to all for their inputs not just to me but to everyone on this board.

Exciting now...When youre up at 3 am in the pitch dark fiddling with the smoker trying to level the temp you will be thinking "Am I nuts?" Then your wife wakes up in the morning and there you are, stinking like smoke, half in the bag passed out on the couch with the ET-73 alarm beeping. Yeah, I love overnights. I gotta get me a few butts.

SWMBO says that overnights are great with the Guru. (she is the first one the alarm wakes up) I kind of like sleeping also!
 
Hmm I baby sat my very first Overnighter. But after my nap the next day, realized that I didn't really do anything useful in that time. And have been sleeping soundly throughout all the rest of my overnighters (5 so far) with nary a problem to date. (of course I know still expect that will not always be true but, for me, it is safe to say that problems and sleepless nights will be the exception rather than the norm.

I did the thern and alarm once. I don't use it anymore I just set it and forget it. Haven't had a problem yet. If I wake up I go out and checK the temp and tap the legs to knock the dust off the charcol so it keeps burning. Once you get the hang of it the wsm does all the work it is kinda of like a crock pot but the food tast better,
