I was at Wall-Mart this morning and bought six bags of Kingford they had marked down. They still have alot left. How does everyone find the availabilty of charcoal to be when winter arrives? Is it just leftovers? Are you able to get it year round? I am planning to keep smoking year roung this year but do not want to be short of fuel

Mike, I have no problem finding it here in Lancaster. WalMart, BJ'S, True-Value, all carry it year round.

I just paid $11.98 for Kingsford 48# twin pack in Home Depot. Is that about right or can it be found for less elsewhere?

I found it difficult to come by and a little expensive last winter up here.

This year I've been stocking up.

Mike, I lived in PA in Thornton and also in Wallingford on two separate ocasions (both are just outside the Philly area). I had one helluva time finding charcoal in the winter months and used to "stock up" in the fall.

Down south (now in NC) I never have any problems. A lot depends on where you live. To be on the safe side, I would stock up this year and then observe if it is available throughout the year. Good luck,

Ray

HD here has it for $7.99 for a 48 lb. twin pack. Its always available down here, but sometimes we have to wait till it cools off a little to be able to get outside to use it. Its been a very, very hot Sept.

If you run into a problem Mike, post, or send Bryan or myself an e-mail. We can hook you up at BJ's or Costcos. Costcos has it year round also for just under $11 a twin pack.

Thanks Bob,

If Costco has it year round I am happy. We are members we just do not go there a whole lot. I did get the last butt I did an Costco and it was a nice piece of pork.

Mike, If you want some Humphrey's Lump give Bob or myself a shout. We are heading down to get some more this week or next. Let one of us know if you want some.
